It’s funny when you go somewhere expecting to see something and something totally unexpected is what hits your eye and what you end up remembering the most.
Whaaaa???
Let me explain.
If you’ve been reading along for awhile, you may remember last year I went to check out the new Pop Tarts store in Times Square. What impressed me the most, wasn’t the variety of pop tarts, but instead the tile in the bathroom – all made to look like pop tarts!!
I noticed something similar happened to me in 2 other locations.
A couple of weeks ago, we took the girls to the Staten Island Zoo. Normally we go to the Bronx Zoo but we were going to be on S.I. so we thought that would be a good activity for the girls. What can I say about it?? It was nice, manageable in size – only needed an hour or 2 to go through the whole thing, and clean. It wasn’t the animals that were memorable but instead a light fixture. Weird, I know!!
In the reptile house, there were tons of snakes – some I’ve seen before at The Bronx Zoo. What struck my eye was actually on the ceiling – a light fixture made to look like the skeleton of a snake! It was so long – it wrapped around the entire hallway! I couldn’t even get the entire light in my shot but you get the idea. How cool is that?!?
Then last weekend when we were strolling through Woodstock, hidden amongst the colorful shops, tie dye and peace signs was this patch of sidewalk – stones cut to look like leaves.
For me, it’s the interesting details that really stand out and make a place memorable.
Do you notice things like this when you’re out and about?

I know! That’s show you really know that you’re a creative person. I’ve always said, “It’s all in the details.” Good catch TCG

I do the same thing! I hardly pay attention to what I’m supposed to be there for and instead focus on all the other cool things around me!

I would like to do a mosaic vase with Woodstock images that will go into a gallery in Woodstock. May I have your permission to include the photo of the sidewalk?
Thank you,
