My final pizza party birthday post isn’t quite ready, so instead of not posting anything today, I thought I’d write about my recent discovery.
I must have had purple on my brain from reading my friend Heather’s Design Blog recently because when i went into the market, my eyes immediately fixed upon this beauty…
Purple Cauliflower!!
No food dyes, just a pure natural beauty! Now, my girls have eaten regular white cauliflower in the past, but I can’t say they’ve ever been too excited about it. When I brought this one home though, their eyes popped out with excitement! Can you imagine your own kids getting ECXCITED about veggies??
I decided to keep it really simple when I cooked it up. Washed it in cold water, cut it up into small pieces and basically just boiled it in salted water until tender – maybe 10 minutes or so.
During dinner, my girls were actually FIGHTING over this purple princess! They ate it so fast just so that the other one couldn’t get more. It was quite funny to watch. I tasted it and honestly, it tasted the SAME as regular white cauliflower! To them it tasted special and they even asked if I could buy it and make it again.
They’re having fun eating and I’m happy because it’s healthy. It’s a win-win situation.
So remember, keep it fun for your kids and they WILL eat their veggies!
Oh, by the way, I got that cauliflower at Shop Rite! Easily accessible!

Oh my gosh! I want to get one this week! Although my son isn’t quite so excited about purple. I am excited about it though. YUM!

Thank you so much for the mention my dear! LOVE YOU. Actually I really like purple cauliflower too. I’ll have to buy some and see if my kids like it. Usually I hide it in mac&cheese…

Funny thing is I actually made a cheese sauce to go with it thinking that would entice them even more to eat it and they didn’t even want it! Just went for the naked cauliflower. 🙂 Let me know if your kids end up liking it!
