Last week I had the opportunity to photograph a great group of people – the actors in the Riverdale Repertory Company’s production of RUMORS.
You may remember, a couple of weeks ago I wrote about the show HAIRSPRAY. The first thing I noticed when entering the theater was the new set – so different than the bright colors of the HAIRSPRAY set! This one was more subdued and elegant and definitely had a “grown up” feel to it.
I’m always amazed by the sets! It’s like magic how one day a room can change so quickly.
RUMORS is a farcical play by Neil Simon (full description here) with a cast of 10.
The girls…
and the guys…
It’s definitely suited for adults. Besides the fact that there’s some cursing (just some), the story itself I think just wouldn’t be interesting for kids. That being said, my 7 year old has been bugging me to take her to see it!! She’s fascinated with the fact that there are “bad words” in it and also that she knows a bunch of these actors from being in shows herself. She wanted me to give her a rundown of who said which bad words and she especially wanted to know if anyone said the “middle finger” word.
Uh, I don’t know – let me check my carefully organized “bad word” list.
This show was definitely easier to shoot than previous ones because I came during their dress rehearsal. I was able to move around the theater wherever I wanted.
If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s still time. Best part, they’ve decided to “give back” to the community and make it FREE! A donation of course wouldn’t be turned down!
To see the rest of the photos you can check out this slideshow. Or better yet, check this schedule to see when the next show is!

What a great job you did capturing the actors! WOW! Amazing work. How lovely of the company to give back to the community by inviting them out for free. I hope it is packed to overflowing every night!

Yesterday was the last show. This morning I saw that the set was already down and they will be preparing for the next show – Aladdin. Will have photos from that show in a couple of weeks.
