This week I went to an amazing workshop in the city presented by 2 very successful photographers from Nashville – Zach & Jody Gray. They have to be the cutest couple EVER! You can see how much they genuinely not only love one another but really like each other as well. So great to see that!
Their workshop wasn’t a typical photography workshop focused on technique. Believe me, I love those also, but they were all about business. Love that! They were so forthcoming and generous with their information on how they run their own wedding photography business. Although I have zero interest in ever becoming a wedding photographer (it”s just not my thing) I was definitely able to get a lot out of it and apply it to a portrait business.
At the end of the workshop the whole class went outside and they did a lighting demonstration – smack in the middle of a busy NY city street. It was so sweet when Jody suggested everyone leave their bag in the room and they would have it locked just so we would have more space outside to watch the lighting demo. Awww! So cute…and so NOT from NY! You know everyone took their bag with them!
During the demo Zach was discussing his settings and cute Jody was there to hold the softbox. What a good sport!
I feel really grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many successful photographers this year.
On another note, this Sunday I’m going to have a table (hopefully if it doesn’t rain) at The Riverdale Y Sunday Market. The market was started over the summer and has been a great addition to the neighborhood – vendors selling fresh produce and baked goods as well as local artists showcasing their work. I will be there with a variety of photographs from nature to street scenes as well as my handmade accordion books. To get a sneak peek of the photographs, you can check out my Etsy Shop. I recently started updating it again. About time – I put it off long enough!
If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello. It’s always fun to see a familiar face!
Here are the details:
