I stumbled across creatvelive a little over a year ago and I have to say, I am SO GLAD I did!!
If you’ve never heard of it, this is it in a nutshell – “a live online worldwide creative classroom offering FREE education in photography, filmmaking, web design and more! ” (I took that right from their facebook page)
I’ve watched several of their online courses and have been blown away each and every time! They get the “top of the top” industry professionals to give a 3 day live course. 3 days sounds like a lot and as a mom, this is almost impossible for me to do – sit at my computer for 3 days straight, 8 hours each day and do nothing but watch a live online class. Believe me, I wish I could! I manage to catch bits and pieces when the girls are at school of if I can get the hubbs to take them out. The good thing is they play a rewatch in the evening so I can get long stretches in that way when everyone is asleep.
The photographers that I’ve watched in these classes have different specialties – some weddings, others portraiture and even if it’s not a field in photography that I’m interested in (weddings for example), there’s still always something to learn. What I am MOST impressed about and learn the most from is the BUSHINESS side of photography. I’m addicted!
Each photographer goes into their own story – how they have gotten to where they are today. They are all so generous with their information and their goal is to help the industry as a whole. It’s really amazing to be connected to such a great group of people. I’ve watched Jasmine Star (wedding and business), Zach & Jody Gray (wedding and business), Tamara Lackey (children’s portraiture and business), Jeremy Cowart (experimental portraiture), Zack Arias (nuts and bolts of photography, camera gear), Penny De Los Santos (food photography) and this weekend Ms. Powerhouse – Sandy Puc‘ – Bellies & Babies and BUSYNESS – lots of it!.
All I can say is WOW!! This woman is so business savvy but has such a personal side to her as well. She got very emotional numerous times during the 3 day course. All I kept thinking was get this woman a box of tissues!!
These classes pack in a TON of information! It’s definitely hard to get everything in in just those 3 days – especially if you have to take breaks for things like…feeding your kids! Isn’t that what cereal is for?!? The great thing is you have the option to purchase the courses. There is always a special reduced price while the course is on live – usually around $99 and then the price goes up a bit after it is over. I purchased a couple and they are really great to go back to. The topics are broken down into small chunks so it is manageable to watch – even if you only have 20 minutes at a time.
If you haven’t heard of them, I highly recommend you go and check out the creativeLIVE website. If you’re already a fan – who have you seen so far? What did you think?
