Chip Chat: Lay’s Flavor FInalists Part II

Wow!  I know it’s been a while. I guess I’ve been on a blogcation!! 🙂

I was going to get back with a post about some recent Bar Mitzvahs I photographed but then when I saw Lay’s was having another taste challenge, I knew we had to do a Chip Chat first.

So, if you’ve been reading my blog, you may know by now that I’m a chip addict so I was really excited when I found out there was another challenge with four new flavors to try.  As soon as I heard, my girls and I went to Stop N Shop and sure enough they were all there.

We headed to my friend’s house for a taste test.  Here’s what happened…

The four flavors are Cappuccino, Wavy Mango Salsa, Kettle Cooked Wasabi Ginger and Cheddar Bacon Mac and Cheese.

We had 6 people tasting ranging in age from 8 to 70’s.

Cheddar Bacon Mac and Cheese – my daughters thought it was ok.  I personally HATED IT!!!  I spit it out right away.  it reminded me of what those fried pork rinds would taste like.  The smell was very hamlike and it left a film in your mouth.  Blah!!  There was not one trace of mac and cheese taste.

Cappuccino – who in their right mind would want to mix potatoes and coffee??  I’m not  a coffee drinker at all – never even tasted it but hate the smell so I didn’t even want to taste this chip but they forced me.  Again – spit it out right away!  My daughters again thought this was ok.  The rest of the group hated it.

Mango Salsa – definitely weird – almost had a perfumy taste to it.  had a fake mango taste.  My daughter HATED this one!  She spit it out right away.  It also seemed very dry.

Wasabi Ginger – this photo should sum it up…

For me and 3 others wasabii ginger was he best of the worst.  For some reason it reminded me of Ramen Noodles.  It was just weird.

So, all in all, the consensus was HORRIBLE!  After a few minutes after the tasting my girls both complained about having a stomach ache.  We would never buy any of these flavors again.

If you’re curious, go ahead and try but don’t say you weren’t warned!!

Lay’s, I love you but you’re killing me!

For this version of Chip Chat, the rating is a big fat ZERO!!

Have you tried these Lay’s flavor finalists?  What did you think?  Tell us in the comments.
