Chip Chat: Deep River NY Spicy Dill Pickle Chips

As some of you may know, I am a total chipaholic!   I especially love potato chips.  I am always on the lookout for new and interesting flavors.  My current favorite flavor is Dill Pickle.  I don’t really see it very often but when I do I get super excited!!!

Last weekend I was on the hunt for some supplies for an art class I was teaching and stumbled upon a store in Westchester called Chef Central.   I’ve passed it many times but never went in.  Whoa!!  This store was so much fun!  A paradise for foodies!  Have you ever been?

As I was going down one of the aisles, it hit me…

Deep River Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips!!   I was so excited I decided to buy 2 bags.  They were small so I didn’t feel too guilty.

So here’s what I thought:

Taste –  The name says SPICY Dill Pickle and they definitely are.  I normally LOVE spicy food and can handle it well.  With these chips I felt like I needed something cool to drink and  felt like the spice was taking over the flavor of the dill pickle.  I found myself wanting more dill pickle and less spice.  As far as salt goes they are just the right amount for me.  I like salt though so keep that in mind.

Crunch – Very good in the crunch department!!

Thickness – To me it was the perfect thickness.  Not too thin where it is falling apart and not too thick.  it is definitely a good chip to hold up to a dip.

So my overall chip rating for Deep River NY Spicy Dill Pickle is…. 3 1/2!

Chip Rating

What ultimately effected my decision was the spice.

Have you ever had these chips?  What do you think of them?

I have to try these with sandwich. I think it would go great with a burger.

I’ve never tried them but they sound amazing! I like original Doritos, nacho and BBQ flavoring myself, though nothing beats a good od fashioned salty regular chip.

I like chips, and LOVE dill pickle chips…especially when they turn my lips pink 😉 I’ve never had spicy dill pickle chips, although I’ve tried spicy jalepeno chips. My favorite chips are cheddar cheese puffs from Golden Flake. Gotta love the crispiness of a good chip.

KD – Yes, accompanied by a burger sounds good. Also something cool to drink.

Heather – as for Doritos, I think my fave is Ranch but I really haven’t had them in ages.

Shermika – I have seen the jalepeno chips and have been tempted to buy them but haven’t yet. They may have to appear in a future Chip Chat!

If there are any chips you have been curious about just let me know!

I found these at Marshall’s in Rossmoor, CA. I was standing in the check out line, and they have all sorts of snacks. They caught my eye because I love anything “Dill Pickle”. I would give these a 5 out of 5 rating for sure. They are everything you want in a chip. They have spice, sour and slight sweetness. I honestly could not stop eating them and finished a 5 oz. bag in two sittings. I love spicy and I hate it when a product says “hot” or “spicy” and it is not. These are definitely spicy and delicious. I hope I can find them again.

Pamela – you sound like me. I recently got another brand of Dill Pickle chips with all intentions of photographing and blogging about it but I had no control! I ate it so quickly! YUM! Dill Pickle is just my favorite flavor chip! So addicting!

[…] Spicy seems to be a theme here.  If you remember, my last Chip Chat was the Spicy Dill Pickle Chip. […]
