Yesterday I told you about the special photography project I did for Chabad ECLC for their anniversary celebration at The Botanical Gardens.
Along with photographing the kids, they also hired me to do an art project with each class to be displayed at the event as well. (I was their art director last summer for their Summer Camp so when this project came up I guess they thought of me. 🙂 )
We wanted each class to be showcased with their own age appropriate project. The one criteria was that they all needed to be paint projects. Each piece of art was to be done on 5X7 foamcore boards backed with cardboard easel backs.
The youngest class (2 year olds) did a painting using an eye dropper with watered down paints. This is a good project for them to practice their fine motor skills.
The middle class (3 year olds) did a reverse hand print with dot paints. I really liked how these came out! Very personalized. I will do a separate post on how to do this project with your own kids.
The oldest class (4 to 5 year olds) did self portraits. It was so interesting to see the different details each girl chose for their portrait. Some of them included their hair accessories, others their eyebrows or eyelashes and one girl even painted in her teeth!
We wanted them displayed in a round setup so they could be seen from all angles in the room.
I created the display from cake boards and cake dummies. This was like deja vu for me from my wedding cupcake display! I covered the styrofoam separators with ribbon and it was assembled onsite.
Here are the resources for the supplies I used:
