I recently heard about Levain Bakery from a segment on the Food Network and knew I had to go down and try their cookies.
My daughter and I met my friend Pam and we headed on over to the Upper West Side – one of my favorite neighborhoods in the city. To our surprise there was a line! Fortunately it moved quickly.
The bakery is tiny – not an eat-in type. More like an order-and-go type. When you walk in the smell is AMAZING! and the cookies are MONSTER SIZE!
We decided to get three of their flavors – double chocolate, chocolate peanut butter and chocolate chip walnut. We brought those home to try with my other daughter rand hubbs so we decided on the chocolate peanut butter to share right there. UH!!! It came out warm and gooey but still crunchy on the outside. Very rich and delicious. The three of us shared it and it was plenty.
My daughter and I were so excited to bring them home and try them out with the rest of the family.
We all had a different favorite. I LOVE the chocolate peanut butter, the hubbs as well. Wow – what do you know, we agree on something!!
My older daughter liked the chocolate chip walnut best and my little one the double chocolate. I saved a piece of the double chocolate for my chocoholic mom to try. She was speechless. So I finally had too say “What do you think?!?” Her answer… “Heaven!”
The cookies are more expensive than what you would normally pay for a cookie – $4 each, but since they are so big, you can split it with your buds!
I’ll have to think of an excuse to go down and get more of those chocolate peanut butter cookies. YUM!
Have you ever been to Levain Bakery? If not, you must! They have multiple locations.
Do you have a favorite bakery in your area?

I try NOT to go to the one in Harlem all the time. Matter of fact, I walk on the opposite side of the street. lol
