One of my favorite things to do every holiday is to visit the holiday markets set up around the city. Artists from all over come to sell their creations. You can find a variety of items from jewelry, clothes, ornaments, and other unique gift items.
This year we hit up 2 of them. Part of the fun, of course, is the food!
Earlier in the season we went to Bryant Park. This s a big one with lots of vendors and activities as well.
I always look forward to getting the hot chocolate from Max Brenner’s but it was way too warm that day.
My girls make a bee line straight to the kettle corn. This time they tried the original and cheese flavored.
Bryant Park also has restaurants as well as an ice skating rink and you only have to pay for the rentals.
Unfortunately, one wanted to skate, and the other didn’t.
We settled on just watching.
It’s definitely a challenge to go with my girls because they are more interested in playing around and eating and less interested in shopping.
Needless to say, I didn’t get anything that day!
A couple of weeks ago, we went to the market at Columbus Circle – right in front of the entrance to Central Park. This one was smaller than Bryant Park but the vendors were just as good.
The food was great also! Especially the Belgium Waffles!! YUM!!
So this time I was able to browse a bit more since the hubbs was with us.
While they ate waffles, I went shopping1! I am happy to say, I scored a new hat! So desperately needed a new one.
I tried to go out of my usual dark neutral comfort zone and move on to something really fun and colorful. I had it narrowed down to 2 hats and even asked a stranger to help me decide. She also went with the dark one! Must have been a New Yorker!! 🙂
I tried really!
If you’re in NY, you still have time to check out the holiday markets at Bryant Park. They’ll be open until January 8th.
Do you have any special markets set up in your area? Do you like to shop the smaller markets or do you prefer big stores?

Was Union Square good? I want to check that one out next year. I also usually go to Grand Central but missed it this time around.

Union Square is good, but I find that all places have the same vendors mostly. Bryant Park has more of the holiday atmosphere… more ice skating, more food. more people just hanging out to enjoy…
