There’s something special about a “cousins” relationship. First cousins, second cousins, second cousins once removed (what is that anyway?!?) and even cousins that aren’t really related to you but you still call them cousins because it feels closer than just a friend – not quite siblings but somehow different than just friends.
I know for my own girls, they love their cousins! “The boys” are a big part of our lives. We live in the same building and they see each other often. It’s great that they’re growing up together.. Many times they come down and eat dinner with us or just play and have treat. They’re very close and I would say almost like siblings because they definitely get into enough fights but then the next day they’re asking to see each other again.
So, it was fun to do an extended family photo session and see other cousins with tight relationships.
I started by photographing the siblings, along with some individual portraits.
The purpose of the session was to get the cousins together to create a gift for their grandmother’s upcoming birthday celebration. They mentioned that when they were little they were photographed together laying in the grass. We tried to recreate that here…
It would have been fun to see the original side by side to see how much they’re changed!
Just the girls…
then the guys…
In age order – ranging from tween to college young adult!
Seems like especially in the summer there are many family reunions and special extended family get-togethers planned. Consider booking a photo session to capture your extended family – it’s not often you get to have grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles all together!
