A couple of weeks ago, my little babes turned SEVEN!!!
Her birthday fell out during a busy Spring Break so her party was a last minute put together. She is currently over-the-top obsessed with dogs! Being the non-animal person that I am, there’s no way that we’ll ever get a real dog so I thought having a dog themed birthday party would be a good compromise! 🙂
Since it was last minute, it turned out to be more of a semi handmade party. I usually go all DIY but I just didn’t have the time.
We got a bunch of dog themed decorations and goody bag items from Party City. It set the tone and it was a great backdrop for photos.
The actual goody bags came from Target but I doctored them up with personalized gift tags and ribbon.
For the activities, we played Pin The Tail On The Dog. My daughter made the dog and I printed out tails from clipart I found online.
I got a dog bone from a dollar store to play Hide The Bone. I also got a bunch of items from the dollar store to give as prizes.
We laid out a long piece of paper for everyone to draw their favorite dog. (We did the long paper thing last year at her creative arts party.)
For the food, the kids got to make their own personalized pizzas. I gave them dough to roll out along with an assortment of toppings.
For blowing out the candles, I made a purple bone shaped rice krispie cake. By request of course!
The kids then got to make their own ice cream sundaes complete with lots of fun sugary toppings to try! Come on, it’s a party!!
We ended with a cute owl pinata filled with more sweet treats. We couldn’t find a dog so we got this cute guy.
Awww!! Poor thing!
Believe it or not, the biggest hit of the party was the leftover Easter Basket grass that my girls saved and had all the kids throw around and go crazy with. Only goes to show it really doesn’t take much to entertain these kids!
The party was a success! No drama and lots of fun!
Do you do themed parties for your kids?
Get The Goods:
- Dog themed decorations, napkins, tablecloth, party hats and blowers, water bottles, bubbles, dog figurines – Party City
** Note – we also got paw print latex balloons from Party City but there was a really bad/toxic smell coming from them. We immediately popped them and threw them out. I don’t recommend buying them!
- Dog themed goody bag, streamers – Target
- I used disposable muffin tins lined with cupcake liners to use for the pizza toppings and sundae toppings – local dollar store
- Leftover Easter Basket Grass – The Easter Bunny
Tip:
If you’re going to do anything messy like rolling out dough for pizza, get multiple disposable table cloths. I went through 3!

Looks like fun! I’m terrible about birthday themes, but I love reading yours.
