We are almost through our holiday break here in NYC – only 3 days left after today. At first I was in a panic that the girls would be home for 12 days – how was I going to come up with activities to keep them occupied for all of those days?!? But I have to say, it’s been pretty good. It helped that Christmas was right in the middle – lots of activity there!
As I mentioned last week, I took my older daughter to the city to check out a holiday market and spend the day on the upper west side. Our first food treat was at Wafels and Dinges where my daughter ordered the Belgium waffle with caramel sauce AND whipped cream. Enough sugar to last a lifetime! The market area was a bit too crowded for her so we went into Central Park so she can sit and eat the mountain of sugar in peace.
As she was eating, I was photographing and there it was laying on the ground just waiting for me – a perfect Y!
I originally had a different idea in mind for my Y – something more holiday inspired but this just popped right out at me.
Did you find your Y this week?
I hope you have been enjoying your holidays!
Frank says
Stacey, simplicity at it’s best. My “Y” is also made of wood. Just a little bigger… 🙂 I hope everyone’s holiday season is coming along just fine. Here’s wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! Here’s my “Y”.

Frank I really like the drama and contrast you got in yours! For the holidays, my original idea for the Y was to photograph a martini glass but this twig was right there. 🙂 I hope everyone has a great New Year!
Frank says
Stacey, the martini glass would’ve surely worked. But I like the solemnness of the one you chose.

Loving this challenge. You two are inspiring. I can’t wait to hear what you have in store for the next challenge Stacy. Well for my “Y”, I saw it the same time I saw the “W” so I have had it for a little bit. Hope you all can see it: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10201209939226695&set=a.4246542597954.2148261.1117345440&type=3&theater

Yes – I definitely see it. So creative with the use of negative space!
Nathaniel says
Yes Stacy. Until you mentioned it last time, I didn’t know what negative space was. I read up on it after that and am more aware of it in my shoots. Thanks…you’re such the teacher.

Glad I was able to pass on some info! 🙂

Nate I love this challenge as well. I’m glad the challenge is almost over, because you might have to replace your fence… Lol! ;). Nice looking ‘Y’.
Nathaniel says
ROTFL Frank!! Fortunately it’s not my fence. However, I have to put one up this Spring if you’re down.
Frank says
Nate I’d be more than happy to help. But if you ever looked at my hands you’d know I’m allergic to manual work. Lol! 🙂 Just let me know.

I love your weekly photo challenge! I’m going to miss your letters when they’re gone. Sigh. Glad you had a nice holiday! My kids will be off another week. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep them occupied!
