It’s hard to believe the first day of school is today! Although the temps are still going to reach the high 80’s, Summer seems like a distant memory. Time for a new routine!
My girls had a hard time sleeping last night with anticipation of the first day back to school. Making sure they had their outfits planned, backpacks packed and figuring out what to bring for lunch were all on the to-do list. Along with a last minute hair braid!
My little one was a bit tearful even though she knew she loved her teacher. She is starting first grade with the same teacher her sister had when she was in first grade. Probably the WORLD’S BEST TEACHER !!! I heard one parent describing her as a Disney Princess. The sweetest thing ever!
We live close to school so we are able to walk. It takes about a whole 3 minutes.
The streets are flocked with kids, their parents and all of the school supplies – carted around in what the hubbs likes to refer to as “the Grandma Cart”. That Grandma Cart sure comes in handy!!
We all went to the first grade class first to get my little one settled in.
The settling in process took longer than I thought so the hubbs took my older daughter up to her class. I was able to later sneak up just to wave hello but I feel like I missed everything. I tried explaining it to the hubbs and he tried to reassure me I didn’t miss anything but I guess moms and dads just see things differently.
His perspective: “We went in, she found her seat, the teacher handed me a paper and I left.”
My perspective would be to watch her expression as she’s first walking in the class. Is she nervous? Excited? Who else is there that she knows from previous classes? Saying hi to the parents we know from previous years, watching how the teacher interacts with the students.
What is he talking about?!? I missed EVERYTHING!!
I guess when you have 2 that’s how it goes. Divide and conquer.
My nephew’s class is a few doors down from my Little Nervous Nellie. That put a smile on her face!
Can’t wait to hear how everything went today but I’m sure I’ll just get the standard answer “Fine Mom”
Don’t these kids know by now I need DETAILS?!?

Oh how sweet! Congrats to you Momma! It was a big day for sure. It looks like all was well. They look very happy. We homeschool and tomorrow is OUR first day of school. We’ve decided to take a field trip… to New York City! I’ll be thinking of you!

Mine started back a few weeks ago. Sigh. Summer was over too soon for me. It’s so nice that you can walk to school, and how great the your little one has a good teacher. So cute! Thanks for sharing.

I forgot to mention my older daughter started 4th grade this year. Cant believe it! Went so fast! Her teacher is supposed to be great as well – something new though – a male teacher. 🙂 She had one last year while her teacher was on maternity leave. She loved it!
